I am campaigning for Mar Roxas if he decides to run for president in 2010. I have never pledged my support to anyone like this before — making it public I mean. But that was because in the past, I could not find any candidate worthy of my precious time and effort. Hence, outside of voting, I never really campaigned for anyone despite the fact that I have been in the field of politics way back in college. There are many reasons for my reluctance to campaign for somebody but the most important is I am not a believer of personality-based politics. I believe that party politics (and voters education) is the way forward to making elections and democracy better in the Philippines.
Having said this, you can just imagine how big this shift in my political neutrality (or even apathy) has been with regards to playing with personality politics. But in many ways, Mar Roxas is not personality politics. He is actually against personality politics. He has been loyal to his party and has made political decisions in accordance to the standards of Liberal Party. No wonder the talk of political parties — instead of personalities dominating the next presidential election — has began to interest political pundits in the last few weeks and months.
As my humble contribution to his campaign, I am dedicating a page in this blog exclusive for Mar Roxas. It does not matter whether you like or hate the guy. You may also be indifferent to him and his politics, but hey, your comments are most welcome anyway. Check out the new page and comment on what I wrote there so far.
*Please visit my Mar Roxas 2010 page and leave your comments. Thanks!
The reason I named my blog A Liberal in Malacanang in 2010 (http://liberalpresident2010.blogspot.com) rather than Mar Roxas for President is the same as your’s. We should veer away from personalities and focus on principles, platforms and programs.
