First, the disclaimer: I am neither a party animal nor someone who holds privilege pass cards to popular pubs, clubs, discos, and bars. Unless absolutely necessary, I just usually read or watch movies in the room after the sun has set. And so, do not expect an expert’s account of the nightlife in Jakarta.

Turbulence and Jakarta

The five-hour trip to Jakarta started well. It ended however on a sour note with a number of turbulence that almost had me throwing up in the cabin.

Groggy, I went out of the plane hoping to see a Philippine replica of things in a city many Filipinos compare to Metro Manila. At first glance, it seems one is indeed in Manila. The heat and humidity, the bums in the airport hallways and corridors, the vociferous taxi stand managers calling for customers, and of course, the famous “escort service” provided by some airport employees to friends and families.

Mar Roxas Is Going To Visit My Office!
