In a season marked for giving – and receiving, greedy capitalists played the role of Ebenezer Scrooge once again and thus reify that for these men and women in business, even during Christmas time, taking what others can and cannot give takes precedence over compassion, altruism and most importantly, service (whether to customers or to mankind in general).

Missing Home in Kuala Lumpur

I never imagined that I can miss home this much. Home and all the comforts and support system as well as the obligations that go with it. I had a productive and wonderful time here in KL of course. I met old and new friends, visited some tourist sites, and learned a lot of new things about Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia courtesy of my good friend Gideon. I even had time to reflect on the year that is about to end while the rains pour all day in the city.But, nothing feels like home. (more…)
Free Internet at NAIA?

I am here at the boarding area of NAIA waiting for my flight that will take me to Singapore. I arrived early expecting some heavy human traffic since its the beginning of the Christmas rush. I did not want a repeat of what happened a few weeks back when we were stuck at the check-in and immigration for a combined two-hours at the Centennial Airport for our flight to Jakarta.

Just arrived home. Dead tired but ready to pack…again. Exactly a week after returning from Jakarta, duty calls once again to spread the good word of liberalism, democracy, and youth activism in Malaysia. How time really flies. It seems just yesterday when I took my first international call of duty for the Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia with a trip in Penang, Malaysia. Now, it seems it is a fitting way to end the year by visiting Malaysia again. (more…)
